In reply to: Fred Hernandez posted an update Hi eveyone, Made it to Sydney two weeks ago and will be in clinic tomorrow and looks like surgery on April 8th at Macquarie Hospital. Looking forward to getting started and meeting […] View

All the best Fred, hope to see you in Sydney with a shiny piece of metal addition!

  • Cosmetic and Protector Fairing

  • Phil, what happened in the 80′s stays in the 80′s ;) Cant wait to get the fairing and send some pics. Leg is shaved and should be able to get the scan done today or end of week.

  • Hey Phil, see the attached.. a silicon tube like this could support the area around the stoma… i chose your favourite colour as well ;)

  • Phil what you say makes allot of sense… I have been lucky in this regard as my stoma is on bone and there is no movement. It healed very quickly and had zero issues… touch would. Ali I also get tired and by […]

In reply to: Damien Allen posted an update Hi all, just an update. All is going well, stoma is very neat and never had an issue. Knee gets sore at days end but in time this should settle. Next weekend hoping to get a 3D scan […] View

I only wash it with the shaving brush once a week, rest of time just let the soaps suds and water spray do its things. Going to a 3D scanning and printer place. Had a good positive response from them and a good approx price. Once the scan and computer model made the hard work is done. The Carbon stride look good but generic. This mob can print in…[Read more]

  • Hi all, just an update. All is going well, stoma is very neat and never had an issue. Knee gets sore at days end but in time this should settle. Next weekend hoping to get a 3D scan of right leg and software 3D made of the left leg. From this going to have some fairing made up, which can be 3D printing, CNC and more. I will post pics once it is…[Read more]

    • Great to hear no stoma issues. Where are you going to get your fairings made? I’m trying to find a company that can make some for me, but all I’ve found so far is Carbon Stride in the UK. They’re not unreasonably priced except that I need two.

  • Your welcome Ali, I can back up what your friend said. I used the 2.5cm wide ribbon gauze…. i have a heap of these and when my delayed gear due to the floods arrives can give these to you. But I found just using […]

  • Hi Ali, are you restricting the amount you do on leg. Less is more at first. The big advantage with ILP is to be up and walking very quickly but OI takes time and the bone and implant still be doing its thing. […]

  • Hi Ali, glad to here the 2nd stage has gone well. You’ll be up and about before you know it. I should be done in Brisbane this weekend so can meet you soon down there. Take care.

  • Hi Aaron, I am BK but not my knee. I had a total knee replacement first stage. My knee was not the greatest going in as had about 80 degrees flexion and about the same now. The ILP setup i have is great, be […]

  • The hoof foot. Water and shower leg. Very simple but very good at the job it needs to do. Also be great for fishing in boat.

  • Thought a good topic be about prosthetic components. One I find that has made a world of difference is an shock and torsional absorber.

Hi Ali, how do we add photo’s?

    • Hi Damien, Just add it as an attachment to the post. Hope this helps. I know I should have rung you by now but things have been so crazy with the kids and end of school year. I will try and give you a call next week. Thanks for all your posts.
      Cheers, Ali

  • Hey JR, it may be better to have one OI AK and one KD, who knows really… a personal decision. I know one double AK and the one in the picture is a second for the ILP system in Australia. Until a KD gets it done […]

  • Hey JR, with OI you need to account for about 40mm sticking out, plus some more with the adapter to connect the knee. Hence the knee be quite low down and doubt this would work well. With OI you weight bear up the […]

In reply to: Aaron Waterford posted an update Hi all i’m in the research stage of the ilp process. My main question is about the stoma, any information at all about care, problems, what to avoid, what things would be like 3, […] View

Hi Aaron, see my Stoma Care forum. I hope some folk with ILP over a longer period can add some info. I am 9 weeks from 2nd stage and my stoma is fully sealed around the dual cone adapter and all healed up. Common sense dictates the main things to avoid, still water, chlorinated pools (i can only think this relates to public pools). The ocean and…[Read more]
